Wire-wrapped silver and beaded tassel necklace
Learn the basics of lovely wire-wrapping using sterling silver, and create a unique, intricate necklace with beads and a handmade chain tassel. Working with hand tools, learn the techniques of securing beads with fine wire, creating links known as “rosary chain”. To add a one-a-kind flourish, learn to connect fine silver chain to the necklace with a decorative silver bead cap. No experience required, students should bring the following to class:
· Eye magnification (reading glasses, clip on magnifiers or Optivisor) to see close detail
· If possible, bring (1 pair of smooth jawed chain nose pliers, (1) pair smooth jawed flat pliers, and (1) pair jewelry wire cutters (either diagonal or flush cutters are fine)
· Beads with holes between 0.030 – 1.0 millimeters in diameter. We will be using 24 gauge round wire so the holes must be large enough to fit the wire.
Some beads will be provided, but if you have a stash at home, please bring! All other materials provided.
