Embodied Asana — Embodied Asana classes are based on sensing your body, breath and movement from many different perspectives. We will use asana as a form and container for exploring the embodiment of our tissues, the seeds of our embryological origins and the developmental patterns that supported learning to move in the first year of life. Using principles of Body-Mind Centering®, Space Harmony, Bartenieff Fundamentals, and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation you will be invited to discover the anatomical, kinesthetic and energetic relationships within the body, and between the body and breath, that can support your experience of being present in your body, recognizing your patterns and cultivating curiosity about making new choices. Any level of movement ability is welcome, and no yoga experience is necessary.

Developing Patterns: Developmental Movement and the Foundations of Asana — From the moment we arrive at our birth, we are learning to move – our experiences, body sensations, reflexes and integrative processes are continually creating patterns that help us find safety, comfort and curiosity.

This series of workshops, informed by a Body-Mind Centering® approach to developmental movement, will explore some of our earliest learning times in the context of our adult bodies: the developmental process of moving from birth to walking.

Each of the four workshops focuses on the movement patterns that typically develop in a particular period of our first year: 0-3 months (arriving to midline), 4-6 months (midline to rolling), 7-9 months (rolling to crawling) and 10-12 months (crawling to standing).

If you are interested in finding out what lies underneath your own movement choices and exploring ways to make different choices, come to one or all of these workshops. No previous experience with yoga or Body-Mind Centering is required.
