«For many of us, coming out as queer casts us out from our own 'official' family stories and leaves us searching for ancestors—for that larger web from which we draw strength and context. But for every famous historical queer, there are thousands more who lived un-famous, half-glimpsed, or closeted lives, under many different names… As we work to create safety and community for contemporary queer and trans folks, Those We Glimpse is an attempt to extend that bubble of love and solidarity to those who came before. It is a gathering of fragments to hold all of our ancestors close—whether they struggled at the edges, or led defiantly unapologetic queer lives. It is a spell to heal the root, so that we who follow can thrive.»
Those We Glimpse is part of an artist residency at the Q Center in Portland OR, from April 4-25. The residency includes a zine launch and intergenerational workshops and events. More info at zephrocious.com/glimpsePDX.

**By submitting your story, you agree to donate it to the public domain. It may end up in a zine, on a wall, on the internet, or in a cross-stitch. It may be read aloud by strangers, projected in ten-foot-high letters on a building or be folded into a small paper boat and sent down a river. It may land on the eyes and ears of someone who really needs this story. Thanks for contributing to queer history.
