Atkins. Paleo. South Beach. Weight Watchers. The Mediterranean.
Raw Foods. And now, Ketogenic.
We've all heard about one or many of these different diet trends, or fads as some may call them. Ketogenic, what is it? It's not really a «diet», it's more of an approach to eating. Is fat good for you? Let's clear up the confusion.
In essence, being ketogenic means you are training your body to burn fat as opposed to sugar. This is beneficial for weight loss, reducing hunger, increasing focus, and boosting energy. It's an approach that is also being used by more and more endurance athletes, as the body has significantly more fat on board at any given time than it does sugar. The sports nutrition industry loves sugar, as evidenced by a company like GU. Sugar burners have to regularly consume sugars (gels, blocks, etc) in order to avoid «bonking» because their body is reliant on those quick burning sugars. But, it does not have to be.
Join us for an evening with Jason Doucett of Metagenics to discuss the theory and the science of a ketogenic lifestyle and learn how it may benefit you and your goals.
Doors at 7pm, talk starts at 7:15pm. This is a free community educational event but an RSVP here is appreciated.
