The Global Folk Club 2018 series kicks off with Kaeley O'Leary Stephens back to back with Tibetan super star Tamding Tsetan's band, Tibetan Open Road.
Kaeley is a homespun Portland songbird who creates all original American folk music inspired by nature as well as folk/country icons such as Emmy Lou Harris and Nancy Griffith. She released her debut album Paradise in 2016 and is a teacher with Music Together of Portland. We are delighted to have her grace our stage at Global Folk Club.
Then we turn over the stage our Tibetan friends, hot off their European tour, Tibetan Open Road featuring Tibetan rock star singer and multi-instrumentalist, Tamding Tsetan. We showcased Tibetan Open Road back in July and we could hardly wait to get them back here again at GFC. If you have not seen Tibetan Open Road before, this is a truly rare chance to experience an authentic Tibetan performance. Indeed they are the only musicians in the world to have performed for both the Dalai Lama and Global Folk Club. Open Road features traditional Tibetan instruments with percussion-driven accompaniment. The music experience comes even more alive with the colourful Tibetan costuming of the performers on stage.
Global Folk Club goers raise a toast to first English Pubsing of the 2018 series. With the appropriate libation and guidance from drinking and singing experts Dick Lewis and Hugo Glanville, you too will be in chorus in no time.
Come early for best seats.
