If you were waiting for peak classicism at Public Domain Xinema, the wait is over. Here it is, Robert Wiene's über-masterpiece, The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari (1920) presented with live musical score performed in the theater by the incomparable team of Justin Schepige and Kevin Van Walk, hosted by Ygal Kaufman. Caligari is a dark and beautiful thriller about a killer who uses a sleepwalking man as his puppet- to kill! This is one of the greatest and most influential films of all time and will be presented on the big screen with a live score. It's the only way to see it, and we're giving you this once-in-lifetime chance Saturday, December 16th, at 8 PM at the Clinton Street Theater.
As always, this PDX show will be preceded by amazing newsreels and cartoons from the year of the feature's release, and those are silent and accompanied by music too! Insanity!
Best of all, it's a donation based show. $5-$8 is suggested, but nobody will be turned away for lack of funds. If you haven't seen a PDX show at the Clinton Street Theater yet, there's never been a better time to dip a toe in and experience the magic.
