Northwest Film Center A Voices in Action film:
What is life like in a place where the anti-abortion movement has made access to legal abortion almost impossible? In the four decades since Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement has won significant legal, cultural, and political battles. particularly in the South where women in poverty and women of color are especially vulnerable. Set against the backdrop of the fight over the last abortion clinic in Mississippi, the documentary 'Jackson' takes a close look inside the earnest state effort to ban abortion and families caught in conflict.
Proceeds from the event will go towards Oregon Foundation for Reproductive Health Safe Travels Abortion Access Fund. Safe Travels provides support for transportation and lodging costs for people traveling in/to Oregon for their abortion care. In 2016, 81 nights in hotels were covered and the most frequent distance traveled was 220 miles round trip, with some people traveling from out of state.
