The Art of Knowing
How to Live Boldly — Looking at the Life of Frida Kahlo through Art Making and Wine Tasting
A class taught by local crackerjacks Erin Dengerink & Leah Jackson
1015 Main Street
Vancouver, WA 98660
This evening event will explore the art of Frida Kahlo which was inspired by her time spent in New York City. Frida Kahlo was a famous Mexican artist who drew on her own life story to create passionate, surrealist paintings. Kahlo’s work about New York depicts her reaction to her experiences in the city. Her work could be political, personal, and fantastical. We will look at images of Kahlo’s artwork, discuss the ideas and symbols in her paintings, and experiment with making our own artwork based on Kahlo’s dynamic and psychological paintings.
The workshop will be paired with a tasting of wines that are inspired by Frida’s persona. We will taste and discuss the wines and be inspired by the passion of both the world of art and the art of wine. No prior wine knowledge needed.
No art experience necessary. Beginners welcome.
Drawing materials, paper, and wine tasting are included in the ticket price.
Class size limited to 10 people, so register early. Email [email protected]
