Open Signal

ALTcade is back at Open Signal! Part arcade, part art gallery, ALTcade is an opportunity to connect with #altgames: video games that break conventions and subvert the medium to produce experiences that lie distinctly outside of those available in traditional games.

At ALTcade, art and video game enthusiasts of all ages can play unconventional video games created by artists & game designers, snack on pizza and refreshments, and connect with other developers, artists and players.

ALTcade’s second showcase is #resistance-themed, exploring how game dynamics and interactivity can imitate, inspire, instruct and interrogate the ways in which we comply and rebel, cooperate and compete. It features works by local artists and developers like Seanna Musgrave, Tabitha Nikolai, Liz Ryerson and more, plus #ResistJam favorites and others curated from all corners of the Internet.

ALTcade is inspired by Vancouver, B.C.’s Heart Projector Arcade, which curates quarterly evenings of weird games collected from the four corners of the internet in the form of a playable gallery.
